Seriously Creative is a new addition to the services provided by Kilburn Youth Centre. The programme provides young people in Brent (as well as surrounding boroughs) a means to articulate their hopes and concerns through their music.  The workshop empowers young people to find creative ways to interact with one another and the wider community in a safe space.  Activities take place five days a week at KYC’s purposely built music studio, as well as engaging young people on nearby estates through KYC’s mobile music technology unit.

The programme embeds accreditation, progression and support services into music workshops. This project will be used as a tool to engage young people not only as a diversionary activity, but as a means to provide a route to education, employment and training.  Young people enrolled on this course are assured continual support with any external factors which might be hindering them from achieving.

The project also provide an educational insight into the music industry with hands on experience of songwriting, vocal coaching, mic technique, recording/production, studio engineering, mixing and mastering tracks. Lectures from guest artists/musicians and key industry professionals.
